MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestlers won eight medals at the international freestyle wrestling tournament for the prizes of Olympic champion Alexander Medved, BelTA has learned.
Over 300 athletes competed for medals in ten weight categories in men’s and women’s events at Minsk Palace of Sports.
Gold medals were clinched by Azamat Nurikov (74kg), Haji Rajabov (86kg) and Alexander Gushtyn (97kg).
Silver medals were collected by Vladislav Andreyev (57kg) and Maria Mamoshuk (68kg). Bronze medals went to Nurgun Skryabin (65kg), Omargaji Magomedov (92kg) and Ibragim Saidov (125kg).
Minsk Palace of Sports is hosting the Oleg Karavayev Greco-Roman Wrestling Memorial Tournament on 17-19 September.
The freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling tournaments in Minsk are held as test events ahead of the 2nd European Games 2019.
