Belarusian tennis players retain their WTA positions

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis players have retained their positions in the latest WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

Aryna Sabalenka goes 8th with 4,810 points. In the WTA doubles rankings Aryna Sabalenka paired with Belgium’s Elise Mertens ranks first. Victoria Azarenka is 14th with 3,535 points, Aliaksandra Sasnovich - 96th with 838 points, Olga Govortsova - 138th with 572 points, Vera Lapko - 280th with 237 points. Two Belarusian tennis players will play in Doha, Qatar this week. Victoria Azarenka will open against Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova, ranked 39 in the world. Aryna Sabalenka will kick off from the second round against either Spain’s world number 16 Garbine Muguruza or Russia’s world number 34 Veronika Kudermetova. In the Lyon Open Aliaksandra Sasnovich will play world number 143 Eugenie Bouchard of Canada in the round of Last 32 while Vera Lapko will take on Switzerland's world number 130 Viktorija Golubic.

Egor Gerasimov went up seven spots to 76th with 936 points in the ATP rankings. Ilya Ivashka  is 112th with 681 points, Uladzimir Ignatik is 338th with 132 points.
