MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian State University will launch two CanSat satellites in July 2016, the University’s press service told BelTA.
The source explained that the satellites will be launched thanks to the successful presentation of scientific projects by students of the university's lyceum and students of the university proper during the qualifying session of the 5th innovative education championship CanSat in Russia.
The satellites will be launched in the town of Dubna during the final stage of the championship in July 2016. The press service of the Belarusian State University said that the students will have to demonstrate a satellite weighing up to 1kg. The satellite will be launched as high as 30km using a stratospheric balloon. Students of the lyceum will need a satellite weighing up to 550g. All the equipment of the latter satellite except for the parachute and the antenna will have to fit into a standard soda can. The satellite will be launched as high as 1km using a carrier rocket.
The qualifying round of the championship CanSat in Russia gathered about 200 school and university students from Russia and Belarus.
