MOSCOW, 27 March (BelTA) – Belarusian specialists working together with colleagues from Moscow, St Petersburg, and Russia’s Tatarstan Republic have taken part in designing and building a new metro line in the Russian capital city. The Nekrasovskaya line is now commissioned, BelTA has learned.
The new line’s section of six stations was inaugurated on 27 March. The new line includes a total of ten stations and is 22km long.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said during the ceremony that the new metro line will improve access to transportation for nearly one million people. The construction process was rather complicated and involved dozens of transitions across major motorways, railway lines, metro lines, multiple natural gas mains and water pipes. In addition to the line itself the construction workers had to build Russia’s largest transfer hub Nizhegorodskaya where connections are available to the Moscow Ring Railway, the Moscow Central Circle Metro Line, the Gorky railway branch, the Nekrasovskaya metro line, the Northeastern Chord, and Ryazansky Avenue. According to Sergei Sobyanin, this hub will be one of Europe’s five largest transportation and transfer hubs.
