MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Belarusian singer Gunesh was named best vocalist at the international song contest MakFest in Macedonia, spokeswoman for the singer Olga Tunik told BelTA.
By the decision of the organizers and the directorate of the contest Gunesh was named best in the nomination Best Vocals MakFest 2017. This is a special award by the organizers and the directorate of the contest. Three prize winners were determined by Macedonian viewers through SMS voting. The 32nd international competition featured 30 artists from Macedonia, Sweden, Finland, Bulgaria, Belarus, Azerbaijan and other countries. The event was held in the city of Stip.
Gunesh performed the song “Skies” in the Belarusian language composed by Fyodor Zhilyak.
According to the artist, the public response was terrific. “I think the people were captivated by the beauty and melodic tune of the Belarusian language and were able to understand the meaning of the song because our languages have some similarity,” Gunesh said.
The international song contest MakFest was first held in 1986.
