MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Union of Journalists and the Russian Union of Journalists have signed an agreement on cooperation. The ceremony took place in Minsk on 21 February, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists Anatoly Lemeshenok and Chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists Vladimir Solovyov.
“This is an important day for the unions of journalists of Belarus and Russia. It is a large comprehensive agreement that opens up new prospects for cooperation. We have a lot of interesting projects ahead. We will also be supporting each other in the international arena,” Vladimir Solovyov said.
According to Anatoly Lemeshenok, the agreement will add an additional impetus to cooperation between the unions of journalists of the two countries. “We have been friends for long. We communicate, hold joint events, visit each other’s meetings. The agreement will take our cooperation onto a new level. The parties understand that the present day requires us to compare notes more often and continue efforts in one vein. There is an agreement that Russian journalists will organize master classes for young Belarusian journalists during every visit. We will also take a more active part in the events organized by the Russian Union of Journalists,” he said.
Belarus’ First Deputy Information Minister Pavel Lyogki added that the signing of the cooperation agreement between the unions of journalists is an important event for the Belarusian-Russian relations. “It demonstrates the high level of interaction, mutual understanding and cooperation that exists between the Belarusian and Russian union of journalists today,” he said.
