MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarusian runner Elvira German surpassed Alina Talay to finish second in the 100m Hurdles at the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Turku, Finland, BelTA has learned.
Two Belarusian athletes made it to the top eight. The 19-year-old Pinsk resident showed the time of 13.14 seconds to finish second. Anna Plotitsyna of Ukraine won the event in 13.08 seconds. Alina Talay, with the second best time in the qualifying (13.13 seconds), finished seventh (13.49) due to a technical mistake.
Silver also went to Belarusian sprinter Kristina Timanovskaya (11.31 seconds) in the 100m event. Rebekka Haase of Germany claimed the victory in 11.21 seconds.
Belarusian hammer thrower Pavel Boreisha showed the third best result of 76.56m. Pawel Fajdek of Poland came up with a world-leading 82.40m. His compatriot Wojciech Nowicki was second with 76.71m.
