MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Coffee shops with Belarusian robots working as baristas will be opened in the Minsk National Airport and in Kiev, BelTA learned from representatives of Rozum Robotics Company.
The coffee shops are designed around a collaborative robot of Belarusian make. “We sell nine out of every ten robots to industrial enterprises in Belarus and Russia. We’ve decided to launch a parallel project with unusual applications for our products,” Rozum Robotics Director Viktor Khamenok said. Instead of making another robot complex based on automatic coffee machines the company decided to team up with a Ukrainian chain of coffee shops to make a genuine barista robot, which will operate professional equipment.
The barista robot is supposed to make coffee like this: a servo arm will grind coffee beans and pack it into a coffee pod using optimal pressure. The coffee pod is then placed into a special portafilter. Pressurized water with the required temperature is injected after that. Apart from Caffè Espresso or Caffè Americano the robot can make foam out of milk and prepare Cappuccino, Latte, and Flat White.
The first robotized coffee shop will be opened in Kiev. There are plans to open at least 100 robot coffee shops in Ukraine initially. Plans have also been made to open a robot coffee shop in the Minsk National Airport soon.
