GOMEL, 26 January (BelTA) – The public association Belarusian Peace Foundation has plans to sign cooperation agreements with Chinese and Serbian organizations in the near time, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Peace Foundation Maxim Misko. On 26 January he attended a meeting at the Gomel Oblast Office of the public association to discuss the results of work in 2015 and the plans for the future.
The association signed a cooperation agreement with the Peace and Friendship Organization of Mongolia in 2015. There are plans to sign a similar agreement with Kazakhstan. “Contacts with international organizations are very important for us. They provide us with an opportunity to regularly attend events held abroad and tell about the life in Belarus, the country’s values and plans for the future at the level of public diplomacy,” Maxim Misko pointed out.
The Belarusian association has developed close cooperation with Russian partners. The ties are particularly vibrant at the youth level. Young people regularly hold joint peace processions, organize sports and recreation camps, and develop volunteer movement.
The Belarusian Peace Foundation also conducts projects to support older people, war veterans. It is not just about financial aid. What such people often need most is a bit of attention. “In June 2015 we launched the campaign A Veteran Lives Here. We have plans to mark all the houses and flats of war veterans with special plaques by 9 May 2016. Patriotically minded associations have joined our campaign,” Maxim Misko added.
