MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian Guild of Chefs presented the national cuisine at the 13th International Festival of Gastronomy in France, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.
The festival welcomed over 100 chefs from different countries in the French city of Mougins on 2-3 June. Representatives of Belarus and Italy were honorary guests of this year’s festival.
“Belarusian chefs take a regular part in the festival at the invitation of the Mougins Municipality with the assistance of France Group and the Belarusian embassy in France. This time the Belarusian cuisine was presented by Alexander Chikilevsky, the Chairman of the Belarusian Guild of Chefs, Tatyana Nazaruk, the Honorary Member of the Belarusian Guild of Chefs, and also cooks of premium-class restaurants Vyacheslav Gorbatov, Evgeny Karyukin, Dmitry Sadovsky and Andrei Lazarev. The dishes prepared by them were praised by the public, foreign chefs and representatives of the French leading media outlets,” the embassy said.
Displayed at the festival were also Belarusian products, including food products of ABC Company, alcoholic beverages from Bulbash Distillery, and products of Neman Glassworks.
On 2 June Cannes played host to a festival of the Belarusian and Italian cuisine. The festival was opened by Cannes Mayor David Lisnard and Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko. He stated that the Belarusian cuisine is historically tied to the gastronomic traditions of Europe. At the same time the Belarusian cuisine has preserved its uniqueness which creates additional opportunities for attracting tourists. Six Belarusian chefs held master classes to prepare a number of dishes following old Belarusian recipes in a modern interpretation, such as forshmak with herring and beet mousse, codfish in citrus pickle, duck fillet with pearl barley porridge, peas and wild berries sauce, and some desserts.
