Belarusian film Pershadruk to be shown abroad

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian documentary Pershadruk about Francysk Skaryna will be shown abroad, BelTA learned from Yuri Igrusha, the Head of Marketing, Sales and Advertising Department of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm.

The film crew of the Letopis studio of Belarusfilm will present the film to the audience in Chisinau on 6 September. The film screening will be supported by the Belarusian Embassy in Moldova.

Pershadruk will open the Belarusian Cinema Day at the festival Dream City in Rovno, Ukraine at the end of September.

France will also see the Belarusian documentary. The event powered by the Belarusian Embassy in France is planned for October 2017.

Pershadruk was premiered during the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk on 3 September. Currently the film is in the movies in Minsk. The Belarusian regions will be also able to see Pershadruk as film distributors has already been concluding contracts with Belarusfilm.

Pershadruk made its TV debut on the Belarus 3 channel on 3 September. The film screening on other Belarusian channels and the Russian channel Kultura is under discussion now.

The documentary Pershadruk is dedicated to Francysk Skaryna, one of the most outstanding personalities in the Belarusian history, and is timed to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing. Director is Igor Chishchenya, scriptwriter is Vladimir Moroz. The authors show the personality of the famous printing pioneer within the context of modernity. Their goal was not only to tell the biography of Francysk Skaryna but to show that his ideas and principles are still relevant. Film critics also commended the work of cameraman Alexander Okovitsky and the music written specially for the film by Alexander Krutel. The film was shot in four countries such as Belarus (Minsk, Polotsk, Vileika), Poland (Krakow), Czech Republic (Prague) and Russia (Saint Petersburg).

The film Pershadruk is made in the Belarusian language and has its Russian and English versions.
