MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – The exhibition Over Imatra organized by the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum of Belarus will open at the Belarusian Embassy in Finland on 25 August. The exhibition is dedicated to the visit of the eminent Belarusian poet to Finland in 1910, BelTA learned from the organizers of the cultural event.
The exhibition will be unveiled during the presentation of the book Belarus-Finland: A One-Hour Flight by Vladimir Drazhin, former Ambassador of Belarus to Lithuania with concurrent accreditation to Finland. The book concludes with Yanka Kupala’s poem Over Imatra.
The literary and documentary exhibition will cast light on a little-known episode of the poet’s life and work, his trip to Finland. Yanka Kupala’s contemporaries learned about his journey from the newspaper Nasha Niva. And now, years after that trip, his sketches continue to convey his admiration of Finland’s nature and local life.
Diplomats and members of the Belarusian community in Helsinki will recite Yanka Kupala’s poems as part of the cultural campaign Let Us Read Kupala Together which is currently underway in Belarus and abroad.
