MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) - Belarusian diplomats took part in a requiem meeting in Bishkek, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
Belarus’ Ambassador Andrei Strachko and diplomats of the embassy participated in a meeting in the Kyzyl Asker war cemetery near the monument to the soldiers that died in the war hospital of Bishkek during the Great Patriotic War.
Attending the event was Bishkek Mayor Albek Ibraimov, heads of the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, representatives of the Russian embassy, veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Speaking at the meeting, Andrei Strachko took note of the contribution the Belarusian people made in the Great Victory, expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz war veterans and workers on the home front. He also emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the soldiers’ deed by the young generation. Flowers were laid at the memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War on behalf of the Belarusian embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
