MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov has taken part in the opening ceremony of the International Army Games 2018, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
According to the source, Andrei Ravkov took part in the opening ceremony upon the invitation of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The games were opened in the Russian army’s military and patriotic entertainment park Patriot in Moscow Oblast on 28 July.
For the first time Belarusian teams will take part in the Falcon Hunt event (a competition of UAV control crews), the Solid Copy event (a competition of communications units), and the Suvorov Attack event (a competition of infantry fighting vehicle crews).
The International Army Games 2018 feature 28 events. The Belarusian army intends to take part in 16 events, including Sniper Frontier, Warrior of Commonwealth, and Tank Biathlon. The International Army Games 2018 are scheduled to take place in seven countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, and Russia – on 28 July – 11 August. Eighteen events of the International Army Games 2018 will take place in Russia. Iran will host a competition for combat divers. Azerbaijan will host the Sea Cup – a competition of crews of naval surface ships. Kazakhstan will host competitions among artillery units, military communication specialists, and operators of unmanned aerial vehicles. Armenia will host the CIS event Warrior of Commonwealth.
The Sniper Frontier event is scheduled to take place in the exercise area of the 38th Independent Airborne Brigade near Brest on 28 July – 11 August.
Belarus has been taking part in the International Army Games since 2015.
