MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) - For the first time, a citizen of Belarus will be decorated with the Order of the Emperor of Japan. People's Artist of Belarus, Professor of the Belarusian State Choreographic College Klara Malysheva will be awarded The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, BelTA learned from the Japanese Embassy in Belarus.
The government of Japan published a list of foreign nationals who will be decorated on behalf of his Majesty the Emperor of Japan in the autumn of 2018. Klara Malysheva will be decorated in recognition of her huge contribution to developing ballet in Japan and promoting friendship between Japan and
Belarus.
For many years the people's artist has been teaching not only Belarusian and Russian dancers but also foreign students, including Japanese ballet dancers, the embassy said. During her time as the artistic director of the gymnasium-college (1977 to 1990), she oversaw the training of more than 40 Japanese students. In recent years, their number has accounted for over 10% of the total number of Japanese citizens living in Belarus.
Over 17 years since 1989 Klara Malysheva annually visited Japan to give classes in ballet schools. The longest of them lasted about a month. All in all, her classes have been attended by around 1000 people.
The awards ceremony will be held in Minsk in early 2019. The exact date will be determined later, the embassy said.
