Belarusian book about military medics to be presented in London, Brussels

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – A book by Belarusian author Vladimir Tulinov Hippocrates’ Guards (Gvardeisy Hippokrata) about doctors who saved hundreds of lives during the Great Patriotic War will be presented in the United Kingdom and Belgium, BelTA learned from the Eurasian Creative Guild (ECG).

The English version of the book was published by the Hertfordshire Press publishing house as part of the Eurasian Creative Guild (London) series. The book will be presented at the ECG Literary Week in London on 1-6 October and at the Open Eurasian Literature Festival & BookForum that will take place in Brussels on 14-17 November.

The book narrates about the hard work and incredible self-sacrifice of thousands of doctors and nurses who risked their lives to save the sick and wounded during the war.

The book was inspired by the story of life of the author’s mother who was a combat medic during the war. In the summer of 1942 she joined a medical corps of a rifle division fighting in the Northwestern Front in the area of Demyansk. Her reminiscences made their way into the book.

The publishing of the book in the United Kingdom is a remarkable event for the Belarusian military literature. “Thanks to the English version of the book, millions of potential English-speaking readers around the world will be able to learn more about the Belarusian people and heroes of the Great Patriotic War,” ECG representative Angelina Krasnogir said.

Vladimir Tulinov has engineering and military education. He started writing poems and articles at 27.
