MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) - The Bolshoi Theater of Belarus will take part in the Rimsky-Korsakov Day, an international festival to mark the composer's 180th anniversary, BelTA learned from the institution.
The Bolshoi Theater will show The Tsar's Bride opera on 16 March and Scheherazade ballet on 17 March. On the evening of 17 March, the Alexandrovskaya Chamber Hall will host Mozart and Salieri, the composer's one-act opera.
The international festival, which will bring together more than twenty cities, will be running from 15 to 18 March at the initiative of the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art. For the project the museum has drawn together theaters, museums, philharmonics and educational institutions that will host more than 100 events.
The Tsar's Bride was premiered in 2015. Scheherazade was first produced on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus by People's Artist of Russia Andris Liepa in 2011. According to the choreographer, Scheherazade has not changed for a hundred years, and today the audience sees this ballet almost in its original form.
