MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - Belarus ranks 21st in the Integrated Index for Postal Development, BelTA learned from the Belarusian postal service Belpochta.
The study carried out by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) compares postal organizations from 172 countries. In the previous report, Belarus ranked 32nd out of 173 countries.
Belarus sits between Slovakia (20th place) and Moldova (22nd). As for the neighboring countries, Poland is ranked 11th, Russia 16th, Lithuania 30th, Ukraine 37th, Latvia is 55th.
Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany top the ranking. The top 10 also includes Japan, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and New Zealand.
The Universal Postal Union ranks the postal services based on four main components - reliability, reach, relevance and resilience. In Belarus Belpochta has the status of a designated operator for international postal services in accordance with the Universal Postal Union acts, which allows exchanging mail with 192 countries and territories.
