MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) - The ballet company of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus will take part in the Johvi International Ballet Festival in Estonia in May 2016, BelTA learned from the theater.
Belarusian ballet dancers will show Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Johvi International Ballet Festival was founded in 2006. It is the only ballet festival in Estonia. The excellent organization of the festival and the high professional skills of its participants attract ballet lovers from different countries. Today Johvi bears the unofficial title of the ballet capital of Estonia.
The organizers always invite one famous ballet theater to be the main guest of the festival. In different years, these were the companies of the Mariinsky Theater, the Moscow State Academic Theater of Classical Ballet, the Berlin State Ballet, the English National Ballet, the Saint Petersburg State Theater of Classical Ballet, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Theater, the National Theater of the Czech Republic, the Saint Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theater, Teatro di Milano, and troupes from the Scandinavian countries.
Different editions of the festival featured performances by such renowned dancers as Farukh Ruzimatov, Leonid Sarafanov, Yekaterina Borchenko, Mikhail Sivakov, Anastasia Lomachenkova, Sabina Yapparova, Anastasia Volochkova, Yevgeny Ivanchenko, Irina Golub, and many others.
