MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Belarusian architects got seven out of the total 26 prizes at the international biennale of young architects Leonardo 2015 in Minsk, director of the international forum Yekaterina Korbut told journalists, BelTA has learned.
“Tatyana Keskevich and Yevgeny Lyashuk won the Small Grand Prix of the contest. The first prize was given to Denis Shevchenko, Igor Petrenko, and Tatyana Keskevich. Another three Belarusians were awarded the second prize of the biennale,” Yekatenina Korbut said.
Minsk is hosting the sixth international biennale of young architects Leonardo 2015 on 3-5 September. The contest is held as part of the 11th national architecture festival Minsk 2015. The biennale features 151 projects from 20 countries. The projects are on display in Oktyabrskaya Square and the Upper Town of Minsk.
The list of participants of the biennale also includes architects from France, Germany, Austria, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, and a number of post-Soviet countries. The international jury was evaluating the works online. Each of the seven members of the jury chose five best projects in each nomination. After that, they e-mailed the results to the organizers who summed them up.
Apart from the Minsk international biennale of young architects Leonardo 2015, the program of the architecture festival Minsk 2015 features the 17th national contest for the best architectural project of 2014-2015, the nineth national contest for graduation projects of Belarusian architecture students, the fourth national drawing contest for children, the fifth Minsk international forum of young architects, and the exposition Young Architecture of Belarus.
The festival has been organized by the public association Belarusian Union of Architects and the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry with the support of the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Minsk City Hall, the International Association of Unions of Architects, the Belarusian Union of Artists, and the Belarusian Union of Designers.
