MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) - The FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships kicked off in Valmalenco, Italy.
Belarusian Alexandra Romanovskaya flew to gold by performing a back lay full and earning 165.19. Zhanbota Aldabergenova of Kazakhstan and Elle Gaudette of the USA took silver and bronze with 163.11 and 146.59 points respectively. Another representative of Belarus, Vera Lyashkevich, finished 10th with 127,60 points.
In the men’s category Belarusian Artem Bashlakov came in seventh scoring 181.89 points. His teammate Ilya Gorelik's final place was 15th with 123.14 points. The gold went to Harrison Smith of the USA who earned a total 192.46 points.
This is not the first success of Alexandra Romanovskaya this winter season. She was victorious as well at the World Cup in Lake Placid in late January. She had to skip the event in Raubichi, Belarus, in early March due to a knee injury. The 18-year-old Belarusian is 9th in the overall World Cup standings with 198 points.
