MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – Belarusfilm and China’s ChongQing Film Group Co., LTD (CFG) will make a joint film, Director General of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm Vladimir Karachevsky told reporters, BelTA has learned.
Belarusfilm and CFG have signed a strategic partnership agreement on 16 July. This is the first agreement of this kind in filmmaking between the two countries. According to Vladimir Karachevsky, the parties agreed to produce a joint film and have already discussed several ideas for the future film project, including an idea of a romantic film. An international production team is being set up.
Apart from that, the agreement provides for cooperation in film production, an academic exchange, and personnel retraining. In November Belarusian films will be screened in China and Chinese films will be shown in Belarus during the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad or in a format of a separate film week.
Vladimir Karachevsky noted that the Chinese partners had studied the Belarusfilm facilities and capacities and gave a positive feedback. They are determined for close cooperation. The parties have plans to promote joint products on the markets of Southeast Asia and the CIS.
