MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ women’s Ritm Grodno and men’s Minsk won the international indoor hockey tournament Pragochema Cup 2017 which was held in Prague, the Czech Republic, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Hockey Federation.
The Grodno hockey players won in all six matches at the tournament, including over HC Minsk (2-0) that drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic for the second place. HC Minsk goaltender Alena Bovtko was named the best player of the tournament.
The men’s Minsk took three victories in the qualifying round and proved too strong to the Czech Republic (3-2) in the semifinal. In the final Belarus saw off Germany’s Step Forward 5-3.
The international tournament Pragochema Cup 2017, which was held for the 51st time, is an important stage for the Belarusian teams in the preparations for the national championships (starting on 24 November) and the Women’s EuroHockey Indoor Championships scheduled for take place in Prague on 19-21 January.
