MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarusian racers finished first at Stage 3 of the Morocco Desert Challenge 2019, BelTA learned from the press service of MAZ.
The 372km-long stage included stiff terrains, oueds, and dried salt lakes. Aliaksei Vishneuski’s crew clocked the best time of 4 hours 51 minutes. His teammate Siarhei Viazovich came in fifth, some four minutes behind.
The truck total standings are topped by Roeland Voerman’s MAN crew (Netherlands). Peter Versluis’ MAN crew (Netherlands) goes second. Third is Siarhei Viazovich, more than 16 minutes behind the leader. Aliaksei Vishneuski is fourth, 27 minutes back.
“This time there was a lot of off-road. We drove confidently but carefully. We were afraid to get a flat tire and lose time. Toward the end of the stage, we even slowed down, as there were a lot of stones and rocks. Yet, we were the first to finish,” said Aliaksei Vishneuski.
Stage 4 is 425km long. The organizers promise fast tracks throughout the day and an ideal playground for a real cross-country rally.
Morocco Desert Challenge is underway in Morocco on 12-20 April. The route comprises eight stages with the total length of 2,741km.
