MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian State Television and Radio Company will take part in Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light, a live television program that will be aired in place of the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, BelTA learned from Spokesperson of the media company Svetlana Smolonskaya-Kraskovskaya.
“The decision to cancel the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 that was due to take place in Rotterdam was taken by the European Broadcasting Union due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the audience will see a special show that will be held in a non-competitive format. The show will bring together well-known Eurovision artists from the past and 2020’s participants who will perform a 30-second piece of their act and will sing a common song. A decision was made to delegate VAL, the winner of the 2020 national selection, to take part in this project,” Svetlana Smolonskaya-Kraskovskaya said.
The live show is expected to last two hours. It will be aired from a studio in the Netherlands. The show will be hosted by Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley and Jan Smit.
The Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light project will be broadcast live on Belarus 1 TV channel at 22:00 on 16 May. The show will be commented by Yevgeny Perlin.
