MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – The European Deer Calling Championship will take place in the hunting farm Krasny Bor, Vitebsk Oblast on 24-25 May, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen Yuri Shumsky.
“This year the European Deer Calling Championship will be organized by the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen jointly with the hunting farm Krasny Bor in Vitebsk Oblast. The competitions will be held in Krasny Bor on 24-25 May. So far applications have been submitted by 13 countries, including Belarus. The event will make part of a hunting festival where contestants will compete in speed, endurance and aiming accuracy. There are plans for a culinary competition as well,” Yuri Shumsky said.
Participants of the deer calling championship compete in imitating a variety of moods, including a mating call or a cry of victory after a fight with another stag. Any items, except for electronic calls, can be used in the competitions. “In 2012, I participated in the European Deer Calling Championship as part of the Belarus-Estonia international team for the first time. Since 2013 the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen has been taking a regular part in such competitions. In 2015 the tournament was held in Belovezhskaya Pushcha,” the chairman of the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen said.
