Belarus to host 3x3 U18 European Championships
MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) - FIBA Europe has named Belarus as the host of 2015 men's and women's 3x3 U18 European Championships. The event will take place in the Belarusian capital Minsk on 21-23 August 2015, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Basketball Federation.
Partaking in the tournament will be 32 teams, with 16 teams competing in the men’s and women’s events each.
Belarus, as the hosting country, earns an outright berth in both final events, while the remaining 30 spots will be determined through three qualifying tournaments in July and August.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will provide special equipment and 3x3 format covering.
FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel congratulated Belarus on being awarded the right to host its first men's and women's 3x3 U18 European Championships. First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed for his part that the European championships would be organized at the highest level.
