MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The list of international sport events which are due to take place in Belarus in 2019 has been approved by Council of Ministers’ Resolution No.907 of 17 December 2018, BelTA learned from the national legal internet portal.
The list includes the 15th Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prize of the President of Belarus scheduled to take place on 1-9 January, the European Figure Skating Championships (21-27 January), the men’s Davis Cup World Group tie (1-2 February), the biathlon festival Legends’ Race (16-19 February), the Minsk international cycling festival Viva Rovar 2019 (12 May), the World Cup leg and the international rhythmic gymnastics competitions Crystal Rose (12-20 August), Minsk Half Marathon (8 September), UCI Track Cycling World Cup Minsk (28 October-4 November), the international dance sport competitions Alliance Trophy 2019 (November), the CIS Open Cup – ITF World Cup Taekwondo (27 November-3 December).
Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes will compete in 200 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in nine sports will serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. Competitions in badminton, boxing, canoe sprint and judo will be held in the format of European championships.
The list of international sport events in Belarus is approved annually, in line with Belarus President’s Executive Order No.182рп of 15 September 2014 “On exempting participants of international sport events from consular fees”.
