MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarus plans to field three teams at the 2022 World Chess Olympiad, FIDE Vice President, Chairperson of the Belarusian Chess Federation Anastasia Sorokina told the media in BelTA’s press service on 11 October.
“These will be the men’s, women’s and youth national teams. We understand how much preparation needs to be done. Very soon, the current roster of the youth team will go to the 2018 World Youth Championships in Greece. The Belarusian youth national team has a very good generation of boys and girls, aged 12-14, who can join the team in four years. Minsk has hosted three cadet world championships, which has given impetus to our chess development among juniors,” the chairperson noted.
Anastasia Sorokina also spoke about the preparations for the World Chess Olympiad. “We are mulling over the organization of online broadcasts. The event will feature a big number of participants, and modern technologies allow us to broadcast every chess game,” she said.
According to the chairwoman of the Belarusian Chess Federation, the 2022 World Chess Olympiad will welcome representatives of more than 180 countries at the Minsk Arena speed skating stadium.
