MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarus will take part in the Latvian Book Fair 2020, BelTA learned from the Belarusian book retailer Belkniga.
From 28 February to 1 March, the International Exhibition Centre Kipsala in Riga will turn into an inspiring book town bringing together writers, translators, publishers and readers. Latvian and foreign publishers will showcase a wide range of their latest products. This year’s fair will feature more than 100 participants from eight countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Turkey, France, and Ukraine.
The Belarusian stand has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the Belarusian Union of Publishers and Distributors of Printed Media. It will demonstrate more than 500 latest Belarusian books on various topics. The stand will be centered around the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of Native Land.
The Belarusian stand will also display new books by the publishing houses Belarus, Mastatskaya Litaratura, Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia, Vysheishaya Shkola, as well as books that received awards of the national and international rounds of the Art of the Book competition. On 29 February, the stand will host a meeting with popular Belarusian writer Natalya Batrakova who will present her dilogy The Instant of Infinity. By the way, the last book of the dilogy – The Instant of Infinity 2: Infinite Love, Infinite Sadness – became the No.1 bestseller in Belkniga book stores in 2019.
