MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) - The Belarus Segodnya publishing house and China’s Xinhua news agency signed an agreement on cooperation. The document was inked by head of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house Dmitry Zhuk and Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua news agency He Ping in Minsk on 11 September, BelTA has learned.
Head of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house Dmitry Zhuk said that a cooperation agreement was signed between BelTA news agency and Xinhua about 20 years ago. This cooperation has been filled with interesting projects. BelTA has launched a news feed in the Chinese language. The agreement that has been signed today is the continuation of the joint work between the Belarusian and Chinese media organizations. Dmitry Zhuk expressed confidence that future joint work will gain broader format since the publishing house operates both print media outlets and a radio service. “Our task is to tell each other about how we live. We hope that our information will be interesting to a wide audience. Belarus’ leadership attaches great importance to cooperation with China, and we need to explain to readers the benefits of this cooperation. The project to build the Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park Great Stone, that is being implemented near Minsk, is very interesting for Belarusians,” he said.
Xinhua Editor-in-Chief He Ping expressed gratitude for the assistance in the organization of the Xinhua news office in Minsk which has been successfully operating in Belarus for the past 20 years. He expressed hope that the ever growing ties between the two countries will spur the development of cooperation between the media organizations.
The parties agreed to exchange information and multimedia materials, post more information about Belarus and China on their websites. The Belarus Segodnya publishing house will start publishing a column, on the pages of the newspaper and on the website www.sb.by, headlined “Window to China” to tell more about the People’s Republic of China.
Belarus Segodnya and Xinhua will closely cooperate in the information coverage of visits of the heads of state and official delegations and other interstate campaigns and events hosted by Belarus and China.
Today the Belarus Segodnya publishing house publishes the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper, the Respublika newspaper, the Narodnaya Gazeta newspaper, the Selskaya Gazeta newspaper, and the Znamya Yunosti newspaper. The publishing house also operates the radio station Alpha Radio and the website www.sb.by. The publishing house publishes the Soyuz project and the Soyuznoye Veche project together with partners from Russia.
China's Xinhua news agency was set up on 7 November in 1931. The agency operates 33 branches in China and 180 branches abroad. The agency has news services in Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Japanese.
