Belarus’ Sasnovich advances to San Diego Open round two

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 102 Aliaksandra Sasnovich defeated Olympic champion, Switzerland's world number 15 Belinda Bencic, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, to advance to the San Diego Open second round, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face world number 61 Emma Navarro of the United States.

In the doubles round of Last 16 Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova will play Caroline Dolehide and Claire Liu of the United States. Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich and Sabrina Santamaria of the United States lost to Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 9-11.

The tournament in San Diego will be over on 16 September.
