MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – The campaign Belarus Remembers. We Remember Everyone dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the country’s liberation from the Nazi invaders continues all over the country, BelTA has learned.
The campaign represents a tribute of respect for deeds and destinies of those, who contributed to liberating the country and securing the Great Victory. Representatives of the Defense Ministry led by Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov joined the campaign by laying flowers at the Eternal Fire in Pobedy Square in Minsk.
Minsk Oblast Governor Anatoly Sivak came to the Eternal Fire on 3 July to honor memory of those, who fell during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Representatives of the Belarusian border service also took part in the festivities. Top officials of the State Border Committee of Belarus and military personnel of the Minsk garrison honored memory of the soldiers, who gave their lives in exchange for freedom and independence of Belarus. The event took place near the military grave in Tolbukhina Boulevard, near the memorial sign to the warriors, who died to liberate Minsk on 3 July 1944. Representatives of the border service also laid flowers at the commemorative plaque of the Hero of the Soviet Union Andrei Kizhevatov. He was the chief of a border guard station and participated in the defense of the Brest Fortress. He died a hero’s death in June 1941. Flowers were also laid at the memorial complex Mound of Glory and at military graves of Belarus’ liberators.
