MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - The May edition of the 2022 IIHF Men’s World Ranking has become known with the end of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, BelTA learned from the IIHF website.
The top-five remain in the same order as after the Olympics. Finland is followed by Canada, Russia, the United States and Sweden.
Bronze medalist Czech Republic overtook Switzerland for sixth place. Slovakia, Germany and Denmark complete the top-10 in the same order as three months ago followed by Latvia, Norway, France and Belarus (2,965 points). Austria made the biggest move in the top-20 gaining two spots for 15th place.
The ranking now includes a record number of 56 countries that have competed in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship program in recent years. The World Ranking takes into consideration the results of the World Championships and Olympics of the past four years. Teams that could not participate this year received points in accordance with the 2022 IIHF Sport Regulations.
