Belarus prime minister visits TIBO 2018 expo

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov visited the TIBO 2018 expo, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov was made familiar with TIBO 2018’s central exposition IT Country Belarus. The head of government was shown innovative products made by government agencies and Belarusian IT companies, resident companies of the Hi-Tech Park in the area of information technologies. Possible applications for these products in healthcare, education, public security, transportation, and agriculture were demonstrated.

Andrei Kobyakov demonstrated a strong interest in the stands of the Healthcare Ministry and the Education Ministry. The Healthcare Ministry presented a general practitioner workstation with the ability to issue digital prescriptions. The Education Ministry presented a modern classroom with an interactive educational panel and tablet computers for every student and the pedagogue. The classroom is expected to ensure maximum visualization and individualization of the education process.

The central exposition of the TIBO 2018 also featured other interesting projects such as environmental maps of the city, a system to control the legality of goods using RFID technology, software for precision farming, an online trade platform.

The Operations and Analysis Center under the President of Belarus has taken part in the expo this year. The National Center for Digital Services and the National Traffic Exchange Center presented their products. The telecommunication infrastructure operator beCloud deployed a 5G communication test area with its own base tower.

The prime minister also visited national expositions of Kazakhstan (this year’s partner country) and Azerbaijan.

The TIBO 2018 expo was opened on 15 May. Taking part in the expo are over 100 companies from 15 countries (Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, the UK, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, and Japan).

This year’s TIBO demonstrates robot technology accomplishments, new mobile communication services and applications, information technologies for the utilities industry, geoinformation and navigation technologies. The organizers focus on supporting startups and popularizing information technologies among young people.

The expo is part of the 25th international forum on information and communication technologies TIBO 2018, which will last through 18 May.
