MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) - Belarus defeated Balkans Team 14-7 (5-2, 2-2, 7-3) at the ongoing 13th Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey for the Prize of the President of Belarus on 5 January.
Martin Milanov and Vadim Bekbulatov were named MVPs of the match.
At the start of the tournament, Belarus President’s Team beat the UAE Team 7-3 while Balkans Team lost to Switzerland 2-13.
On 5 January Switzerland unexpectedly lost to the UAE 1-6 (0-1, 0-0, 4-2). After two days the standings in Group A are as follows: Belarus - 4 points, UAE Team – 2 points, Switzerland - 2, Balkans Team – 0 points.
On Friday, 6 January, Chizhovka Arena will host two matches: UAE vs Balkans (14.00), Belarus vs Switzerland (19.00).
In Group B Russia drew with Finland 4-4 on 5 January. Slovakia routed Germany 6-1. Group B standings are as follows: Slovakia - 4 points, Finland – 3 points, Russia – 1 point, Germany - 0. Two matches are scheduled in Group B for Friday: Finland vs Slovakia (19.00) and Germany vs Russia (15.00).
The winners of the two groups will face each other on 7 January, with the runners-up competing for the bronze.
