MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said he wants to watch only the Belarusian TV channels as he met with heads and journalists of Belarus’ largest state-run media outlets on 10 April, BelTA informs.
“I urge you to make the TV better, both the picture and the media coverage. Though a journalist can say just a couple of phrases, he or she should get to the point. I want to watch only our TV channels. I am too much of a nationalist in this regard,” the head of state remarked.
He also stressed that Belarusian journalists managed to stand on their own in the tough years. “I think you are the best in the world. Keep it up. You could have brought chaos to the country together with me. But you kept your backbone straight. This is the way it should be. Your older colleagues definitely understand this. You did not lie. I did not make you sell yourself,” the president added.
