MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Information Ministry is taking part in the 9th international exhibition of book and printing industry Along the Great Silk Road 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 6-8 April, BelTA learned from the Information Ministry.
The presentation of the Belarusian national stand celebrating the 500 years of Belarusian book printing took place on the opening day of the exhibition. The guests of the event got familiar with the latest publications of the Belarusian leading publishing houses. Young singer Anastasia Maisyuk performed at the event.
The Almaty expo has featured the leading publishing houses, printing companies and libraries of Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, India, Turkey and other countries that gathered to discuss the current problems and prospects of the publishing, printing and library sectors, expand business and professional contacts, and exchange experience.
In 2017 Belarus is marking 500 years of its book printing, including with themed events abroad. Francysk Skaryna’s Psalter came out in Prague in 1517. Then, the outstanding enlightener and humanist wrote and published the other books of the Old Testament.
