Belarus’ preparations for 2022 World Chess Olympiad discussed

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko discussed with President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich Belarus’ preparations to host the 2022 World Chess Olympiad, the 2020 Women’s World Chess Cup and the 2021 World Chess Cup, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian government.

The World Chess Olympiad is the largest team competition for the FIDE member states, which has been held every two years since 1927. More than 1000 athletes from 180 countries take part in the event.

The parties also discussed chess development in Belarus, including the training of national chess referees and their international qualification, and also the implementation of the Chess at School project.
