MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) - Petr Asayonak of Belarus won silver at the 2019 EWF Senior European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi, Georgia, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian took silver in the men’s -81kg category with the total of 355kg. Petr Asayonak hit a maximum of 159kg in the snatch and 196kg in the clean and jerk. Antonio Pizzolato of Italy claimed gold with the total of 356kg (155kg + 201kg). Bronze went to Ritvars Suharevs of Latvia, a total of 354kg (162kg + 192kg).
Petr Asayonak won the fourth medal for Belarus at the competitions in Georgia. Earlier, Henadz Laptseu clinched the men’s 61kg gold, Yulia Asayonak won the women’s 45kg bronze and Vadzim Likharad claimed the men’s 73kg bronze.
Over 400 athletes from 47 countries are competing at the 2019 EWF Senior European Weightlifting Championships. The tournament, which is a qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, will run through 13 April.
