MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus has been nominated for an award in the Gastronomy and Agrotourism category at the contest of best tourism destinations National Geographic Traveler Awards 2017, BelTA has learned.
Other Belarus’ rivals in the nomination are Armenia, Georgia, India, Italy, Peru, and Sweden. Winners will be decided through online voting running on the website of the National Geographic Russia magazine through 15 October.
The readers will also choose the best destinations in the categories Beach Vacation, Family Vacation, Mountain-Skiing Vacation, Sightseeing Vacation, Medical Tourism, Adventure Tourism, and Exotic Tourism. Apart from that, they will name Discovery of the Year.
The online voting will also determine the winners in the categories Best Foreign Airline, Best Online Service for Travelers, Best Beach Hotel, Best Cruise Tour, and Best TV Travel Program.
Belarus was given the first prize in the Agrotourism category at the National Geographic Traveler Awards 2016.
As of early 2017, Belarus had 2,279 farm tourism estates. They welcomed about 302,000 visitors in 2016.
