Belarus’ National Day at EXPO 2015 in Milan scheduled for 9 September

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ National Day at EXPO 2015 in Milan (Italy) will be held on 9 September, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov, BelTA has learned.

"The main event, which we are working on, will be the National Day of the Republic of Belarus scheduled for 9 September. It will involve the visits of official delegations, a large cultural program. We will use not only our pavilion but also the central area of EXPO 2015,” Alexander Guryanov said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry are planning a business program which will be running for six months of the world expo. This program will include the Day of Belarusian Economy and the event on innovations and technological cooperation which will be held under the auspices of the State Science and Technology Committee.

Belarus will present a universal theme exposition and the complete information on every region of the country. "Delegations of all six regions and the city of Minsk will be working at the National Pavilion for six months. They will present regional cooperation opportunities, regional projects and exchange visits with other delegations, to establish new contacts through the twining relations with Italy and promote the regional cooperation between the two countries,” said the deputy minister.

In addition, we will involve artistic teams both professional and amateur, Alexander Guryanov noted.

The Universal Exposition is the biggest international platform to demonstrate technical and technological solutions. It was held in 1851 for the first time. The theme chosen for the 2015 Milan Universal Exposition is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. This embraces technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet. 150 countries have already confirmed their plans to take part in the exposition. Ten international organizations and 30 corporations are also expected to participate.
