MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Belarusian will send 22 athletes to the European Youth Olympic Festival 2015 that is due to take place in Vorarlberg (Austria) and Liechtenstein on 26-30 January, BelTA learnt from the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
The Belarusians will compete in four disciplines.
Ilya Avseyenko, Stanislav Matyuk, Nikolai Posashnichenko, Alexei Grebennikov, Natalia Ibel, Anna Strelnikova, Yekaterina Tolochko and Diana Tsesareva will take part in biathlon competitions.
Vlad Zvernik, Ksenia Milashevskaya, ladislav Chertin and Daniil Chertin will compete in downhill skiing.
Nikolai Klementyev, Gleb Trusov, Yuri Kucherov, Vlad Danilenko, Anastasia Ageyeva, Alina Yuranova, Anna Koroleva, Anastasia Pakhomenko will compete for the cross-country skiing medals.
Artyom Tseluiko and Yelizaveta Avsyukevich will make appearance in figure skating.
Athletes from 45 countries will compete in eight disciplines: Alpine skiing, biathlon, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and snowboard.
At the European Youth Olympic Festival 2001 in Finland Belarusian athletes won one silver and two bronze medals. Belarus took one bronze in Switzerland in 2005. At the 8th European Youth Olympic Festival in Spain in 2007 Belarusian athletes claimed two gold medals (both by biathlete Vladimir Alenishko) and finished 5th in the medal count. Belarus collected a biathlon bronze in Romania in 2013.
