MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry plans to host promotional events in Europe and North America to attract tourists to the 2021 IIHF World Championship, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department at the Sports and Tourism Ministry Vitaly Gritsevich told the media at BelTA’s press center on 24 December.
“2020 will be a year of preparations to host the 2021 IIHF World Championship. As for marketing events, the focus will be made on the countries where ice hockey is popular. These will be Eastern and Northern Europe, North America,” Vitaly Gritsevich said.
In January 2020 Belarus’ potential will be represented at three exhibitions. Two of them are target ones to promote the championship – in New York, the United States and in Finland. One more will be held in Spain.
Hotels will also get prepared for the forthcoming championship. “We need to take a look at all the issues related to accommodation facilities. I think everyone understands that we need to avoid any price hikes. We also need to know how many beds will be available in hotels in 2021 so that travel operators could plan sales,” Vitaly Gritsevich said.
The 2021 IIHF World Championship will be co-hosted by Belarus and Latvia on 7-23 May.
