MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarusian aerial skier Maxim Gustik clinched bronze at the ongoing FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Gustik ranked fourth in Final 1 scoring 109.35 points. Denis Osipov earned 84.96 points to finish 11th. In Final 2 Maxim Gustik collected 116.82 points to take the third position. The Belarusian athlete further improved his try in Final 3 (119.91 points) to take bronze. The bronze medal of the 2015 championships is the first award for Maxim Gustik at adult forums.
Gold went to China’s Qi Guangpu whose jump was assessed at 139.50 points. Second best was Alex Bowen of the United States (121.27).
In the women’s event, Anna Guskova scored 82.84 points to take the 6th position in Final 1, while Alexandra Romanovskaya finished 11th with 71.82 points. In Final 2 Anna Guskova was fourth with 78.30 points. In the last stage of the final round the Belarusian freestyler finished 6th (69.09). The Women’s Aerials gold was grabbed by Australia’s Laura Peel with the total of 88.47 points. The aerialist edged American Kiley McKinnon (88.12) and China's Olympic silver medallist Xu Mengtao (86.84).
