Belarus-Israel tech forum due in Minsk in autumn

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The first Belarus-Israel technology and innovation forum focusing on information and communication technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology, and innovative materials will be held in Minsk in autumn. This was agreed upon during the meeting of Chairman of Belarus’ State Committee on Science and Technology Aleksandr Shumilin with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Alon Shoham, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.

Taking part in the forum will be government officials, researchers and innovative entrepreneurs, as well as university teachers of both countries. An estimated 100 people are to attend the forum. Top on the agenda will be promising areas of bilateral cooperation and promotion of joint technologies and high-tech products on foreign markets.

The State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Israel held the first competition of joint sci-tech projects and selected the best entries for further financing. “In the near future, the Belarus-Israel working group on research and technology will convene to approve the collaborative projects. These projects deal mostly with biotechnology, agriculture and information technology,” said Aleksandr Shumilin.

Belarus-Israel research and technology cooperation was formalized by the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in education, science and culture and the agreement between the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Israel dated 21 May 2018.
