MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – The National History Museum of Belarus plans to prepare a photo exhibition about Belarus as a multiethnic country, director of the museum Oleg Ryzhkov told media at the presentation of the photo project titled as Multiethnic Russia on 7 July, BelTA has learned.
“It would be great to implement such a project in Belarus as the topic is very much relevant. Belarus, just like Russia, provides all opportunities for self-realization regardless of the nationality and faith. People of various ethnicities are self-improving in peace and comfort,” said Oleg Ryzhkov.
The idea of such a project emerged thanks to the opening of the exhibition Multiethnic Russia at the National History Museum of Belarus. The exposition tells the story of 37 people of various ethnicities from different parts of Russia.
Speaking about the Multiethnic Russia exhibition, Director General of the Federal Jewish National and Cultural Autonomy Yevgenia Mikhaleva noted: “Ethnicity means people, who are proud of being citizens of their country, being representatives of their nationality. The fate of every person is part of the fate of his/her country.”
“The interethnic and interdenominational world is an important issue in our present difficult times. Such projects make their contribution to international diplomacy,” noted Margarita Novodvorskaya, counselor with the Russian embassy in Belarus.
The photo project Multiethnic Russia will be running in the National History Museum of Belarus from 8 to 24 July.
