MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Over Br3.9 million and €78,400 have been donated to the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry to help it tackle the coronavirus pandemic, Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan told the media on 10 April, BelTA has learned.
As of 9.00 on 10 April a total of Br3,937,777 and €78,400 were deposited to the charity account of the ministry. Individuals donated Br221,831.
Among the biggest donors were the Belarusian Union of Women, Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers, private companies, and enterprises. A total of 1,310 individuals and 210 economic entities made donations.
The funds were used to buy 4,000 dental face shields, 100,000 medical protective gowns, 2,000 COVID-19 reagent testing kits and 20,000 half-face filter masks.
Medical equipment was purchased to the total amount of Br87,600. Vitebsk Oblast Hospital Center received 50 oxygen saturation monitors and 10 oxygen concentrators. Borisov Hospital No.2 got 25 oxygen saturation monitors and 5 oxygen concentrators, Minsk Hospital No.6 – 25 oxygen saturation monitors and 5 oxygen concentrators. Some Br334,336 was allocated to National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology to produce COVID-19 reagent testing kits.
As BelTA earlier reported, the Healthcare Ministry had opened a charity account following numerous addresses from the country’s business, Hi-Tech Park residents, industrial companies and individuals.
