MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Belarus has been honored with the 2017 European Tennis Trophy. Most Improved Nation award, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Tennis Federation.
Last year, the Belarusian national women’s tennis team made a sensation by reaching the Fed Cup final. Chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Federation Sergei Teterin received 2018 Tennis Europe Awards, a special award for the contribution to the development of tennis in Europe and longstanding commitment to the sport.
The awards were presented at the Tennis Europe’s Annual General Meeting in Budapest. Tennis Europe President Vladimir Dmitriev presented a strong financial result for 2017 and introduced a new business strategy for the organization. The new strategy for 2018-2023 will see Tennis Europe focus heavily on three key pillars: Competition, Development and Promotion. A major priority will be a renewed emphasis on development, working in close cooperation with the ITF. International Tennis Federation President David Haggerty provided an update of ITF matters, including proposals for reforms to the Davis Cup.
