MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Gennady Laptev of Belarus (men’s 61kg) clinched gold on the second day of the 2019 EWF European Weightlifting Championships that is taking place in Batumi, Georgia, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian showed the best result in Snatch and Clean + Jerk (133 kg +153 kg) to set Belarus’ new record (a combined total of 286 kg). Silver went to Turkey’s Sezer Bunyamin (283 kg). Ferdi Hardal from Turkey clinched bronze (282 kg).
Lyudmila Psyshchanitsa (women’s 55 kg) was just a step away from the podium with a combined total of 187 kg.
A reminder, a day before Yuliya Asayonak (women’s 45 kg) clinched bronze.
Over 400 athletes from 47 countries are competing for 60 sets of medals at the 2019 EWF European Weightlifting Championships. The tournament will be over on 13 April.
